HYDERABAD, May 3 Jamshoro District Nazim Malik Asad Sikandar has urged the government to sanction more funds for the district because it is not only a big district but also a backward one.

He was speaking at an open katchehry in Jamshoro on Sunday. Pakistan People's Party MNA Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur was also present on the occasion.

The participants of the open katchehry spoke about shortage of water, erratic electric supply, rampant unemployment, deteriorating law and order situation and poor state of health and education facilities in the district.

Mr Sikandar urged the members of legislative assemblies to use their influence and strive for a special development package for Jamshoro district.

He directed the authorities concerned to prepare lists of deserving people so that they could be provided financial assistance from Baitul Maal funds.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Talpur said that on the demand of the industrialists and people of Kotri, the government had approved the construction of Kotri overhead bridge and work on the project would start soon.

He said that the people of Jamshoro district had reservations on the Right Bank Outfall Drain project and at his request, the prime minister had ordered an investigation to address the complaints of the affected people.
