HYDERABAD, April 30 District Nazim Kanwar Naveed Jamil has urged people to make it a habit to abide by traffic rules to help save human lives.

Mr Jamil said at a meeting at his secretariat here on Thursday that the observance of traffic week from May 4 to 10 was not just a formality. Its aim was to create awareness among people about traffic rules, he said.

The development of the city was the responsibility of the district government but it could not sustain without conscious and active cooperation and support of its residents, he said.

He said the district government had taken a number of steps to end traffic jams by constructing flyovers and widening main roads but without observance of rules, smooth flow of traffic could not be ensured.

The meeting chalked out a detailed programme for the observance of traffic week. A large number of union council nazims and councillors, traders and additional controller of civil defense attended the meeting.—Bureau
