HYDERABAD, April 15 Nazim and councillors of Nasarpur UC have threatened to resign and lodge a complaint at the grave of Benazir Bhutto if the union council is not given the status of a taluka and its people not accommodated in the employment quota.Nazim Syed Darbar Ali Shah of Awam Dost panel and all the councillors were speaking at a news conference at the press club here on Wednesday.

Mr Shah said Nasarpur had remained the capital of Sindh during the regime of Arghoons. It was an ancient town with its historical, cultural and literary history, he added.

The nazim claimed that when Nasarpur UC was part of Tando Allahyar, this taluka generated more revenue throughout Sindh than any other taluka and when it became part of Matiari, Matiari became the top revenue earner.

Nasarpur remained a centre of business activities since centuries and it had the honour of being the biggest onion market of Asia with a turnover of Rs1 billion per year, he said.

In onion season, many labourers from Punjab and the NWFP came to Nasarpur in search of employment, he said, adding that Nasarpur was also famous for its handicrafts.

Pointing out anomalies, the nazim said physically Nasarpur was part of Matiari district, but the MPA and MNA of the constituency belonged to Tando Allahyar district.

But the misfortune of the town was that the people neither got the employment quota from Tando Allahyar nor from Matiari, Syed Darbar Ali said.

He called upon the party leadership to solve the issue and provide jobs to the people.

Syed Darbar Ali Shah argued that Nasarpur was a town of sufis, saints and writers and literacy rate there was more than 70 per cent.

The Awam Dost nazim appealed to the president of Paksitan and Sindh chief minister to upgrade Nasarpur to a taluka and sanction employment quota for the youth of the town.
