PESHAWAR, April 3: Pakistan People’s Party (Sherpao) has expressed solidarity with the war-hit people of Iraq and asked the international community to stop the on-going  US aggression in order to save the killing of innocent people.

Speaking at a meeting of the party workers here on Thursday, Mr Sherpao, Sikandar Sherpao and other leaders resented the humanitarian crisis in Iraq that had put the international peace at stake.

The meeting reviewed the membership campaign in Peshawar and urged party workers to actively participate in the membership drive. The membership drive will be finalized in two months and after the conclusion of this process the intra-party election will be held.

A 23-member organizing committee headed by Alamgir Khan Khalil was also formed which would supervise the membership campaign in Peshawar.

Mr Sherpao condemned the killing of seven women and children at the hands of US troops at a checkpoint and bombardment on a maternity hospital. He castigated the US-led forces for having violated human rights and resorted to war crimes in Iraq.

He said PPP (S) would fully side with the Iraqi people against this unjust and illegitimate war.

He called for concerted efforts by the international community to stop the US aggression.

He contended that the whole world had given verdict against the unscrupulous war, adding that the hostilities against Iraq had exposed the credentials of US.
