HYDERABAD, April 2: The 259th annual Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai will be observed in a befitting manner in Bhitshah on April 17.

This was stated by District Nazim Dr Makhdoom Rafikuzzaman while presiding over a meeting held at the Shahbaz Hall here on Tuesday.

Mr Rafikuzzaman directed the officers concerned to cooperate with the district administration and the Mela Committee in making the event a success.

The meeting decided the culture department would complete the renovation work at the shrine of Shah Latif and make necessary arrangements for a musical programme, literary conference, Malakhra and publication of leaflets.

Sindh culture secretary Abdul Hameed Akhund said a literary conference would be held in Hyderabad and a CD of folk singer Abida Parveen would be launched in Karachi.

Two books would also be launched to mark the occasion, he added.
