MITHI, Oct 2: A meeting of the Marvi Yadgar Cultural Committee was held the other day to discuss and finalize the arrangements to commemorate the annual mela of the legendary Marvi on Nov 7 and 8 at her native village, Bhalwa, Nagarparkar Taluka.

The meeting was held under the presidentship of the Naib Nazim of the district, Ramsingh Sodho.

Taking cognizance of the locus standi that Marvi occupied a significant place in the history of Sindh for her chastity and patriotism for which she had been immortalised in the poetry of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai and others, but the culture department had not been able to celebrate her mela every year. Hence, it was decided by the committee to move the secretary, culture department, to sanction permanent grant in aid as her mela could be commemorated every year.
