PESHAWAR, Dec 3: The government will allow the private sector to run their schools in the buildings of public sector schools and colleges after the regular school hours, NWFP Education and Information Minister Syed Imtiaz Hussain Gilani said in a PTV programme.

He said the budgetary allocation for the education was insufficient, therefore the government had decided to involve the private sector in promoting education.

This project, to be called Public Private Collaboration (PPC), will start in April.

These private schools, he said, would charge nominal fees for imparting education from middle to college level.

Answering a question, the minister said the parties interested in running private school would also provide furniture and computers to the schools.

The  minister also said the firms and parities to be considered for joining the programme must have vast experience in running education institutions. They would be allowed to hire only trained teachers for their schools. He said that unlike the education projects of the previous governments, this programme would be totally managed and run by the private sector.

Mr Imtiaz said that advertisement inviting private sector for joining this programme would appear in newspapers on Dec 15.

He called upon interested parties and firms to come forward and establish schools in government buildings to promote education in the province.
