LAHORE While giving a clean bill to the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), the federal sports minister has categorically expressed dissatisfaction over the working of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Pir Aftab Shah Jilani while speaking to the media during the final of the NBP Gold Cup hockey final at the National Hockey Stadium on Friday, remarked 'Under Qasim Zia's leadership the PHF is doing a good job as Pakistan senior team has upgraded itself from sixth to 2nd position at the Asian level, however, PCB chairman Ijaz Butt has failed to handle the affairs due to which a good number of problems remain.'

Jilani, said the role of the standing committees of parliament was important, as they are responsible for maintaining checks and balances in different ministries and departments.

The National Assembly standing committee on sports had summoned the officials of the PCB and the PHF on Thursday and asked different questions about their working.

Asked what was the status of two Olympians Naveed Alam and Mansoor Ahmad, after they appeared before the standing committee, the minister responded by saying that since both had been banned by PHF's Congress and the Executive Board so the ban was effective.

It may be noteworthy to mention that only PHF's Executive Board imposed the life ban on the two Olympians last month as no meeting of the Congress has been held so far.
