THATTA, Dec 2: The AIG Police, Ghulam Sarwar Jamali, who had been assigned to inquire into the recent incident in Sujawal Town in which a suspect Khuda Bux Chang was forced to parade naked by the Sujawal Police, recorded statements of the victim and five others here on Sunday.

In what appears to be an exercise to protect the thick-skinned police officials, Mr Jamali recorded the statements behind the closed doors, and that too, in the presence of the SSP Thatta, DSP and SHO Sujawal and nobody was allowed to witness the proceedings.

Those who recorded their statements included Ashok Kumar alias Gul (councillor, UC Sujawal), manager Omega Enterprise Wine Shop, Abdul Razaque Memon, Juman Mirbahar and Aslam.

The inquiry officer, however, did not record the statements of a number of cricket fans and spectators who returned after waiting in vain outside the police station criticizing the attitude of Mr Jamali as well as the SSP.

Hundreds of cricket fans said they had witnessed the ugly incident. They termed the inquiry as a mockery of justice and demanded a judicial inquiry.
