PESHAWAR, March 25: The Pakistan chapter of Hizbut Tahrir has condemned the government policy viz a viz Iraqi war and asked it to send Pakistan army troops for the defence of the Iraqi people.
Speaking at an anti-war demonstration held in front of the Peshawar Press Club on Tuesday, Hizb’s local leaders Dr Zulfiqar Ahmed and Mehboob Shah criticized the indifferent attitude of the government towards the plight of Iraqi people and termed it anti-Islamic and inhuman.
They said it was the religious duty of Pakistan armed forces to fight against the US imperialism which wanted to capture mineral resources of Muslim countries. They said Muslims were one Ummah and they could not be divided into various nations.
They condemned the slogan of ‘Pakistan First’ and termed it a ploy of the US agents to confuse masses and distort teachings of Islam.
Hizb workers were also carrying placards and banners inscribed with anti-war slogans. Later, they dispersed peacefully.
STUDENTS DEMO: Students at the Agriculture University staged a protest demonstration on Tuesday to express their anguish over the invasion of Iraq by the United States and United Kingdom forces, Our Correspondent adds.
The students raised slogans against the US aggression and termed it a conspiracy to grab the petroleum resources of Iraq.
The demonstrators led by Agricultural Students Welfare Association President Zawar Hussain marched through various departments and routes and held a public meeting near the university’s main gate.
