KHAIRPUR, Feb 11 Residents of Khairpur are facing continuous low gas pressure and 12-hourly power shutdown since last one week.

Winter showers have intensified the cold and low pressure along with artificial loadshedding was making life miserable, especially for school going children and office goers.

Adding to this is power outages even in the night, affecting both domestic life and trade activities.

People headed by President Shehri Ittehad Abdul Qayoom Shaikh held a protest on Thursday. They said that loadshedding of both electricity and gas had made their lives intolerable as among other hardships, drinking water supply and drainage system both were badly affected.

SALU Registrar, Shah Abdul Latif University (SALU) Khairpur has announced the reopening of university from today (Friday).

The university remained closed since February 2, after the murder of a student Mohammad Khan Gambhir on the campus, said a press release issued here on Thursday.

Meanwhile activists of SPSF and JSSF-Aaresar group continued their protest in Thari Mirwah, Pir Jo Goth and other areas on Thursday.

They alleged that the university administration had disturbed the academic atmosphere by removing flags, banners and posters of SPSF and JSSF.
