Stray bullet kills little girl

HARIPUR, March 24: A minor girl was killed after she was hit by a stray bullet here on Saturday.

Romia Bibi, 7, daughter of Banaras Khan, resident of village Ochaar, was going home with her mother after attending a marriage ceremony in a nearby village, when a stray bullet hit her in the head, injuring her seriously.

She was taken to Civil Hospital, Khanpur, where she was declared dead.

According to eyewitnesses, the bullet which hit Romia was allegedly fired by one of the players of a local cricket team which was celebrating its victory by resorting to firing in the air.

Police have registered the case and investigation was under way.
