GUJRANWALA, Sept 9 The Anti-Terrorism Court No 2 on Thursday sent the former Sialkot station house officer (SHO) and 20 other accused to jail for seven days following completion of probe by a joint investigation team.

Special Prosecutor Rana Bakhtiar Ahmad told the court that during physical remand of the accused, the police recovered arms, an official vehicle and a tractor-trolley.

The judge, Rana Nisar Ahmad asked the special prosecutor about the recovery of clubs and ropes from the accused upon which he replied that the accused threw the clubs on the spot after the incident while ropes could not be recovered as the complainant did not nominate the Rescue 1122 officials in the FIR and the police could not arrest them.

He told the court that Sakhawat Ali and Asif courted arrest and provided two mobile phones. He said the arms and the official vehicle had been provided by driver Muhammad Arshad.

Wireless control messages and calls records of Rescue 1122 had been taken into custody for further investigation, he said. The special prosecutor requested the court to provide him with the copy of bail application of former DPO Waqar Ahmad Chauhan.

Sialkot Saddar police SHO Zulfikar Ahmad applied for handing over an official vehicle (STT-652) to him for performing official duties. The court summoned the officials concerned along with record on Sept 16.

Earlier, former SHO Rana Muhammad Illyas, ASI Waris Ali, constables Tariq, Mubarik and others were produced in court amid tight security and later sent to jail on judicial remand.

RELEASED District and Sessions Judge Syed Kazim Raza Shamsi on Thursday visited the central jail and set at liberty 30 delinquents.

The judge sought a list of those involved in minor cases and ordered their release to facilitate them on Eid. He directed the jail authorities to provide facilities to the inmates in accordance with the manual.
