FAISALABAD, Oct 27 The district police have developed a software to prepare data on tenants, their landlords and property dealers, Dawn learned on Tuesday.

The establishment branch of the city police officer (CPO) developed the software and sent it to all police stations of the district asking station house officers (SHOs) to enter details about the tenant, landlord and property dealers in the programme.

CPO Muhammad Tahir directed SHOs to meet with property dealers and provide them the copies of a Performa developed by the department. Earlier, police faced difficulties to compile and update data on tenants. Sources say police station staff had been trained by the CPO office to use the software.

After a recent spate of suicide bombing and other terror activities, police developed the software on emergency basis that would enable police or other security agencies to trace the particulars of any man hiring abodes in any corner of the district. The data collection software will compile a tenant's particulars such as the computerised national identity card, caste, source of income, last five places where he had been living, number of children, sect, landline and cell phone numbers and reason of hiring the establishment.

Besides, the police will also collect details of guarantor coupled with the information that whether he has obtained a no-objection-certificate from the nazim or not. Sources said the police officer would also assure the department that the particulars of the man mentioned in the Performa were authentic.

KILLED Three gunmen gunned down a trader and injured his brother in Jamila Abad in the precincts of Nishatabad police here.

The gunmen broke into the house of Shakoor Ahmed and held the family hostage at gunpoint. When Shakoor and his brother Abdul Majeed put up resistance, housebreakers opened fire leaving both brothers injured and fled.

The injured were shifted to hospital where Majeed was pronounced dead. However, the condition of Shakoor was out of danger. The police failed to net the criminals who fled easily.—Staff Correspondent
