ISLAMABAD, March 20: Minister Information and Media Development Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Wednesday said the upcoming visit of Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali to the US is still on.

“Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali’s visit to United States, as of now is still on, it might prove to be useful in the prevailing scenario,” he said in response to a question about PM’s visit to the US in wake of attack on Iraq.

In a special briefing on the attack on Iraq by the US, Mr Ahmed said, the law and order situation in the country is well under control and there is no threat to it.

“All arrangements have been made to ensure law and order in the country in the wake of attack on Iraq,” he said.

He said all contingency plans relating to provision of oil or basic necessities have been made and their supply to common man will continue in a smooth manner.

“There is no need to worry about as all measures have been taken,” he said.

To a question Sheikh Rashid Ahmed said, the evacuation plan of Pakistanis from Iraq is already on hand and more flights would also be operated if needed.

On the question that the session of the National Assembly on Wednesday was prorogued without any resolution, Sheikh Ahmed said, since the session was requisitioned by the opposition, it was their responsibility to maintain the quorum of the House, to which they failed.—APP
