KARACHI, March 19: Talented Xerxes Avari with his crew Kamil Khan won both opening races in 470 class in the Asian Sailing Championship trials at Pakistan Navy Aquatics Club Wednesday.

Xerxes showed good control over his boat in medium south westerly wind to dominate the trials. Four-boats reported at the starting line.

Anwar/Muhammad Ashfaq and Ashfaq Elahi and Hameed Baloch were lying second and third after first day’s races.

In Mistral class, Tanveer, a former national champion, produced sterling performance and took top positions in the first two races in the best of seven race series.

Though, Aamir Nawaz took the early lead in both races but eventually settled for tied second position with Khan Dada.

Two races will be sailed out on Thursday.—APP
