For most skin conditions remedies using natural products are the best and you don't have to spend a fortune on creams and ointments. Here are some tips for a clear, smooth skin

For freckled skin

* Mix ground radish seeds in water and apply regularly to remove freckles and clear blackheads.

* Squeeze a fresh lime in a glassful of whole milk (previously boiled), add a teaspoon of glycerin and allow this mixture to stand for half an hour. Apply this mixture on the face and wash after 30 minutes.

* To help the freckles fade, dab cucumber juice on your face at night and wash off in the morning.

* Applying lemon juice mixed with honey also helps.

For dark circles around eyes

* Add a few drop of milk to cucumber juice and dab this under the eyes, leave this for one hour and rinse off with cold water. Follow this everyday and see the results.

* Close your eyes and place a slice of cucumber or potato on eyelids. Leave it on for 10 minutes and remove. Wash the affected area with cold water.

* Regular application of cold milk around the eye area will reduce dark circles.

* Lightly massage the under eye area with five drops of saffron or almond oil every night before going to bed.

* Place a cold, used tea bag on each eye and relax for a while. Make it a daily habit.

* Make a paste of one teaspoon tomato juice, half teaspoon lemon juice, a pinch of turmeric powder, and a teaspoon of flour; apply this under the eyes, dab lightly and leave on for 10 minutes before rinsing.

For blackheads

* Mix 1/4 tsp of soda bi carbonate, one teaspoon of honey, and warm gently. Apply this on the face concentrating on blackheads. After 10 minutes rinse off with a damp face cloth.

* Apply a mixture of honey and lemon juice. Keep it for 10 minutes and rinse off with cold water. Do this at least three times a week.

* Splash cold water on your face at least three times a day to keep the pores closed and skin firm.

* Mix together half a cup of chickpea flour, one teaspoon of turmeric powder and quarter cup of mustard oil. Apply this on the face and wash off with lukewarm water after 20 minutes.

* Apply a mixture of one teaspoon of coriander juice and a pinch of turmeric powder. If applied regularly, this treatment will cure pimples and blackheads. This also benefits those with dry skin condition.

For pimples

* To control the out-break of pimples, mix nutmeg, turmeric and red sandal wood powder in equal quantities in rose water to make a paste. Use this as a face pack. Regular use of this will reduce the occurrence of pimples and white heads.

* Another remedy for pimples and pimple scars is the application of a paste made of fennel seeds mixed with a little water.

* To get rid of pimples, blackheads and open pores, mix one teaspoon each of turmeric and green gram powder, a pinch of salt, one teaspoon of lemon juice and enough milk to make a paste. Apply this as a face pack and let it stay for about 15 minutes. Wash off with lukewarm water.

* Apply a paste of chickpea powder on your face and wash off using lukewarm water. Do this every morning for eight weeks.

* To treat pimples, apply a paste of cinnamon powder (15gm) with a few drops of fresh lime juice on the affected areas. This will also give your face a healthy glow.

* Apply a mask of tamarind paste mixed with a little wheat flour. Keep this on for 20 minutes and rinse off with cold water. This will keep the skin cleansed and cool.
