SHIKARPUR, March 17: Some elements in the opposition camp are bent upon undoing the democratic process and push the country back towards dictatorship, federal minister for railways Ghous Bux Khan Mahar said on Monday.

Speaking on Sunday at the oath-taking ceremony of the office bearers of the Shikarpur Press Club, the federal minister urged the opposition to get rid of its one-point agenda and respect the public mandate for the sake of democracy.

Mr Mahar warned that the government would not allow anyone to misuse democratic rights to disturb the peaceful atmosphere in the country.

The minister said that he would do his level best to secure special funds to carry out development works in the city.

He also said that a Quetta-Rawalpindi express train would soon be introduced to provide better facilities to the people of Shikarpur, Jacobabad, Sukkur, Larkana and Ghotki districts and Balochistan.

SHOT DEAD: Two brothers, Abdul Latif and Abdul Khaliq, were shot dead by six armed men on Sunday in the Samandar Khan Gopang village in Garhi Yasin taluka.

Both the brothers were shot dead while they were sleeping in their hotel.
