HYDERABAD, Dec 1: Phuleli police arrested the PML leader, Ziaul Qamar, brother of zonal organizer of Mohajir Qaumi Movement Nadeem-ul-Islam, on Thursday night in an attempted murder case.

Phuleli police said that ASI Mangan Khan nabbed Ziaul Qamar from Faqir-ka-pir area on Thursday night in an attempted murder case lodged against him, Raees Qureshi, Sharif and two other unidentified accused.

The case was lodged by Fazal Ahmed Qureshi after Ziaul Qamar alias Ziaul Islam allegedly pumped nine bullets in the legs of complainant’s son, Naeem Qureshi. Naeem Qureshi is the brother of an MQM activist Shams Qureshi.

Naeem Qureshi was attacked on Nov 13 outside his house at Pinjra pole chowk in the wake of a property dispute, which also involved Raees Qureshi. Naeem claimed that Ziaul Qamar alias Ziaul Islam called him on that night, opened fire on him and fled. The injured received seven and two bullets respectively on his right and left leg. Since then the accused has been absconding.

Ziaul Islam was also required to be prosecuted in another attempt to murder case lodged by Arshad Khan, a local transporter, at the B-section police station after he was attacked by Qamar Islam on July 15. His leg got fractured in the firing.

Arshad Khan lodged the report with the B-section police against Ziaul Qamar and an unknown person. The incident followed a three-month long dispute, involving Shakeel Gaddi and others over transport business.
