KARACHI, Dec 1: There was no water supply in various parts of former districts East and Malir on Saturday because of a leakage in a valve of 6-inch dia pipeline in Bin Qasim Town area.

The localities which were deprived of water due to the leaking valve included parts of Malir, Landhi, New Muzaffarabad and its adjoining localities.

Confirming that the pipeline’s valve had leaked on Friday, an official of the KWSB claimed that the leaking valve had been repaired on Friday night and all the affected areas would start getting normal supply from Saturday night.

An acute shortage of water persist in some other parts of the city also. Some of these localities are Kharadar, Mithadar, parts of Lyari, different sectors of North Karachi and Clifton’s Block 2.

Residents of Mithadar and Kharadar said in the absence of water they had no choice but to drink well water at the risk of their health.

CLIFTON: An acute shortage of water persists in Clifton’s Block 2 due to non-adherence of water supply schedule of the locality.

Residents complained that they had brought the lingering issue to the knowledge of officials concerned, but they had not ensured smooth and uninterrupted supply on the days fixed for supplying water.
