2 policemen shot at, injured

SIALKOT, March 12: Two policemen were injured when two persons riding a motorbike opened fire on a police picket near the Waan village bridge in Daska Tehsil late on Tuesday night.

The injured were identified as Begowala SHO Tehseen Sadiq and Constable Mohammad Amjad and one of the assailants as PO Imran alias Manu. The POs escaped under cover of darkness.

The injured police officials are said to be in a stable condition.

SENTENCED TO DEATH: Additional District & Sessions Judge Nazir Ahmed Langah has sentenced to death notorious drug-pusher Sharif alias Sharifa, who was caught in possession of 38kg of charas.

The judge also awarded 14-year RI to Sharif’s wife Suraya Bibi for keeping 2.5kg of opium in her possession. Both the convicts were fined one million rupees each. — Correspondent
