The National Highway Authority (NHA) has completed three projects in Punjab whereas work on the fourth project is under way. They include the Lahore-Rawalpindi Motor Highway; Rawalpindi-Peshawar Highway and Lahore-Faisalabad Highway whereas the Faisalabad-Multan Highway is under construction.

The NHA seems to have neglected Sindh as the construction and up-gradation of highways is crucially required in this province as well.

Sindh is an important province that provides 70 per cent of revenues to the national pool of the federal government. However, the infrastructure is in a dilapidated and poor condition for a long time. It needs improvement on a priority basis.

Columnist and barrister Zamir Ghumhro stated in his recent article in a Sindhi daily that the NHA should immediately start work on upgrading the National Highway between the seaport in Karachi and Sukkur.
