SHIKARPUR, Nov 30: Iqbal Ahmed Detho, secretary general, Amnesty International Pakistan, has expressed concern and anguish over the killing of innocent civilians in Afghanistan through bombing by British and US warplanes.
Criticizing the cruel action of killing of Taliban prisoners in Qila-i-Jangi, he termed it as an act against human rights in general and war prisoners’ rights in particular. Talking to newsmen here on Friday, he said that Amnesty International Pakistan has emphasized the need of joint efforts by UN as well as British and US governments, Northern Alliance and other Afghan groups and to formulate an acceptable multi-national security force and an interim government in Afghanistan.
He appealed the UN as well as international committee for Red Cross to play an active role to stop the bombing on innocent people and conduct an inquiry into the Qila-i-Jangi massacre.
