And now Sadia Imam, the poet

Published August 23, 2009

Give me a break! Sadia Imam says she dabbles in Urdu poetry. Accepted. No issues. But on one of the myriad morning shows (can someone shut them down or shut their hosts up please) she talked at length about her penchant for Urdu poetry, and even recited one of her own couplets (jo wazn se gira hua tha, magar akhlaq se nahin), and had the guts to say that it was inspired by a Jaun Elia zameen.

I appreciate the fact that the girl tries really hard to act and sound like a poetry buff, but please spare the great masters. Knowing that Jaun Elia was a stickler for ilm-i-urooz (metrical patterns), he would've turned in his grave after listening to Sadia's shair.
