ISLAMABAD, March 6: The interior ministry has acquired a Land Cruiser jeep from Capital Development Authority (CDA) and handed over it to a newly-appointed deputy commissioner of the authority, Sajjad Hussain Shah, a source told Dawn.

He said the official having BS-17 was not entitled to have such a luxurious vehicle for official use.

The interior minister had reportedly directed the CDA to provide the vehicle to the ministry, however it was later handed over to the official, who was stated to be a close friend of the minister.

“The official has obtained second official vehicle as he had reported that his Pajero jeep (IDB 2181) had been lifted from his house some days ago,” the source revealed.

The interior ministry had already acquired four vehicles from the CDA but three of them were returned and one (IDB 694) was still under the use of the ministry, the source said.
