PESHAWAR, July 13 The Chief Justice of Peshawar High Court, Justice Ejaz Afzal Khan, is learnt to have asked judges of the high court to avoid taking suo motu notice of any issue without his permission.

The chief justice issued an office order on Monday which made it clear that the powers of taking suo motu notice could only be exercised by the chief justice, other judges could so only after his approval.

The order was issued apparently after a senior judge, Justice Dost Muhammad Khan, recently took suo motu notices of several issues, including spurious and counterfeit drugs and loadshedding of electricity.
