LAHORE, March 1: The Punjab Home Department on Saturday ordered sealing of a theatre in the city for a month and three-month ban on four stage artistes with immediate effect.

The city district government’s Environment Protection Department recommended ban on Babbu Barral and Zafri Khan for using vulgar language, cutting indecent jokes and making obscene gestures during their performances. Barral was also blamed for passing derogatory remarks about religion.

Ban on stage performance of actresses Huma Tahir and Sada was recommended for their dances in diaphanous dresses and cutting vulgar jokes.

Sealing of the Naz Theatre for a month has been ordered as a reaction to allowing artiste Deedar to perform on stage during Eidul Azha holidays despite a ban. Also, two of her eight dances she performed in stage plays were approved.
