DADU, Feb 28: A passenger was killed and 50 others were injured when a bus fell into a ditch at Tando Shahbazi railway crossing on Indus Highway near Sehwan on Friday.

The Karachi-bound passenger bus (PO-888) was coming from Osta Mohammad.

As a result, a woman, Sharifan Bibi, 45, died on the spot and 50 others received injuries.

The injured include Abdul Rehman, Gul Hasan, Wazir Ahmed, Hayat, Huzoor Bukhsh, Abdul Aleem, Shahabuddin, Paryo, Abdul Hameed, Abdul Majeed, Mumtaz, Wasim Khan, Raheeman, Piran and Zar Gul.

They were admitted to the Taluka Hospital, Sehwan.

The Sehwan police impounded the bus but its driver escaped.

DEMONSTRATION: A large number of Nazims, councillors and NGO activists staged a demonstration outside the press club here on Friday against the BHP company.

They were demanding jobs for the local people in the company.
