SUKKUR, Feb 17: Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar and prime minister’s adviser on economy Shaukat Aziz called on Pakistan Muslim League-F chief Pir Pagara in Pir-jo-Goth, Khairpur district on Monday to seek his support for the coming Senate elections.

Mr Aziz and Mr Mahar reached here by air from Karachi and proceeded to the ancestral town of the Pir, where they held a detailed meeting with him and discussed the Senate elections.

Outcome of the meeting was not made public till the filing of this report.

However, according to an official press release, the chief minister discussed different issues with the PML-F chief.

During the discussion, he said that his government was making all out efforts to maintain law and order in Sindh.

He said that strict action was being taken against criminals to protect lives, honour and property of the people.

Taking part in the discussion, Mr Aziz said that economy of the country had improved due to the efforts of the government.

Regarding loot and plunder by the corrupt elements of past governments, he said that they would be taken to task and the national wealth would be brought back to the country.

Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali was also scheduled to attend the meeting but he could not arrive due to bad weather in Islamabad.

Later, the adviser and the chief minister attended a lunch hosted by Pir Pagara at his residence.

They also visited the shrine of Syed Mohammad Rashid alias Rozedhani, offered Fateha there and then left for Sukkur Airport.

Sukkur District Nazim Syed Nasir Hussain Shah and his deputy Iqbal Dawood were also present on the occasion.
