Govt to fight poverty, says AJK PM

Published February 16, 2003

KOTLI, Feb 15: AJK Prime Minister Sardar Sikander Hayat Khan has said the government is committed to eradicate poverty and provide basic amenities of life to the people of Azad Kashmir at their doorsteps.

This was stated by him while speaking at a gathering at the Prime Minister’s House in Kotli the other day.

He said a lot of development work was carried out during his previous tenure as prime minister from 1985 to 1990. He said now the government had launched various uplift plans to bring prosperity and progress to this area. He criticized the policies of the previous government which, he said, had done nothing for the welfare of the people during its tenure.—APP
