KARACHI, Feb 9: The city government has accorded approval to the construction of model parks in 11 towns costing Rs8 million in the first phase. A decision to this affect was taken at a meeting chaired by the City Nazim, Naimatullah Khan.

The meeting was attended by the DCO, Mir Hussain Ali, concerned Town Nazimeen and officials of the city government. The District Officer (Parks), Liaquat Ali Khan, told the participants that for development activities at these park sites, availability of water was a pre-requisite. He pointed out that the experiment of sewage treatment in the past had proved successful. By applying this method, he added, the objective of preserving trees and plants and maintaining greenery in parks would be achieved.

The meeting decided to initiate development activities at the parks’ sites forthwith.—PPI
