LAHORE, Feb 8: Korean Ambassador Kim Won Gyu on Saturday termed Western media’s reports accusing Pakistan of transferring nuclear technology to Seoul as false allegations carrying no truth at all.

“The allegation is baseless and aimed at seeking an artificial excuse to isolate and pressurize both Pakistan and Democratic Peoples Republic of Korea,” he said while talking to reporters after attending the 61st birthday of Korean leader Kim Jong-Il. The function was organized by the People’s Council for Young Political Leaders (PCYPL) at Kapoor Thala House.

Earlier, speaking at the function, Mr Gyu said Korea was facing “nuclear dispute” created by the US. “This dispute will be settled only when the US will come out for direct talks with Korea,” he said.

He said the Koreans would never give up their dignity and honour. “If the US is going to pressurize Korea then the Koreans will face it on eye for an eye basis,” he asserted.

“As long as we Korean people have an excellent leadership and unity between people, party and army, we will be able to safeguard our sovereignty with honour,” he added.

Mr Gyu said Korea and Pakistan had long friendship based on mutual understanding and trust.

He said a lot of changes were taking place in international arena but relations between the two countries’ would continue to develop and strengthen.

PCYPL president Dr Fakharuddin Chaudhry, Dr Abdul Hakeem, PPP leaders Munir Ahmad Khan and Altaf Qureshi also spoke on the occasion.
