RAWALPINDI, Feb 8: Federal Minister for Defence Rao Sikandar Iqbal has said peace in the South Asian region is not possible without a just and fair resolution of the Kashmir issue.

Mr Rao was talking to the prime minister of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Sardar Sikandar Hayat, at his office here on Saturday.

He said Pakistan would continue to extend moral, diplomatic and political support to the oppressed people of occupied Kashmir in their just struggle for self determination.

The minister said in spite of Pakistan’s endeavours to initiate meaningful dialogues, India had never shown sincerity and seriousness in solving the Kashmir problem.

He also deplored the human rights violations in held Kashmir and called upon the international community to help the innocent people.

Earlier, the AJK premier briefed the minister on the situation at the line of control and repeated violation by the Indian army. Other matters related to civil aviation and starting of PIA flights to Mirpur and Muzaffarabad were also discussed.
