ISLAMABAD, May 8: Prime Minister Mir Hazar Khan Khoso introduced on Wednesday the summer dress code for the federal government employees as a ban on the use of air conditioners in offices will be enforced from May 15.
A directive issued by Prime Minister House said the ban would continue till there was substantial improvement in the energy situation.
The PM’s secretariat said it had already discontinued the use of ACs as part of its austerity and conservation drive.
The dress code includes white or light-coloured (beige, light grey, sky blue, off-white, cream) shirt/bush shirt (full-sleeved or half sleeved) with light-coloured trouser or shalwar-kameez with waist coat.
The code for footwear says moccasins (shoes without laces) or sandals (shoes with straps) without socks. All public servants have been given seven days for preparations to observe the dress code.
The premier expressed the hope that provincial governments, private institutions and general public will cooperate with government by following the code.—A Reporter
