US visit only for surgery: Shahbaz

Published February 4, 2003

LAHORE, Feb 3: PML-N president Mian Shahbaz Sharif, who is due to undergo surgery in New York on Tuesday (today), says his US visit is exclusively for medical treatment and no other motive should be attributed to it.

In a statement issued through his spokesman Farrukh Shah on Monday, he said since his arrival in the US he had been through various medical tests.

He appealed to his countrymen to pray for his success.

Meanwhile, his wife and two daughters reached New York from Saudi Arabia.

His son, Hamza, is expected to be issued a US visa from London on Tuesday after which he will leave for New York to join the family.
