KOHAT, April 18: The residents of Kohat Development (KDA) Township are again facing acute water shortage due to excessive power loadshedding.

The township officials said that due to power loadshedding the storage tanks could not be filled to their capacity and resultantly the water supply in upper sectors of the township had been affected.

Taking advantage of the situation the tanker mafia is charging at their will from Rs500 to Rs1,200 per tanker whereas the only water tanker of the township could not fulfill the residents’ requirement of water.

The town administration had also failed last year to ensure provision of sufficient water to the residents.

However, it had acquired two tankers on rent to provide water to people at controlled rate.

The officials said that complaint of the residents was genuine, but the Pesco had not been cooperating to reduce power loadshedding despite repeated requests.

When contacted, an official Asghar Banoori said that money was being arranged for buying a generator to ensure water supply to the residents.

He said that they also needed an additional water pump.

He admitted that the water shortage was acute in sectors 8 and 9.
