ATTOCK, April 10: In this part of the world, the doors of politics are always open to those who have strong political family background.

In Attock district, the sons of three bigwigs have all the ingredients to be inducted into the politics.

They are flexing their muscles to join the arena for next elections as their fathers also want to see them on the victory stand.

Besides strong family background, they are foreign educated.

Sardar Zain Elahi, a candidate for NA- 59 Attock-III, is the only son of   the former district Nazim and ex-MPA Major (retired) Tahir Sadik Khan. He belongs to a prominent “Khatar” family of Bahtar village and was contesting the general election for the first time.

Mr Tahir is brother-in-law of PML-Q’s president Ch Shujaat Hussain. He has constituted his independent ‘Major Group’. He is also aspirant for two National Assembly seats of NA-57 Attock-I and NA-58 Attock-II.

He is trying hard to muster maximum support for his son to ensure his success in NA- 59.

In 2002 elections, Mr Tahir had fielded his daughter Mrs Eman Waseem who was elected MNA from the same constituency which has been allotted to her brother. At that time Sardar Zain Elahi was underage for election.

But later she vacated the seat for Shaukat Aziz, who was elected MNA in 2005 by-election and then appointed as prime minister.

Now  Mrs Eman Waseem  is contesting for provincial assembly seat of PP-15 Attock-I from “Major” group.

Qazi Ahmed Akbar, aspirant for Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) ticket for PP-16 Attock-II, is the son of former Attock tehsil nazim Qazi Khalid Mehmood, a landlord and member of “Qazi” family of Jatiyal village.

Soon after quitting PML-Q in 2009, Qazi Khalid joined PTI and also inducted his son in it.

Similarly PML-N’s candidate of  PP-15 Attock-I  Sheikh Suleman Sarwar  is the son of   PML-N’s MNA Sheikh Aftab Ahmed, who belonged to “Shiekh” family  of Attock.

Being a father, Mr Aftab is confident of his son’s victory.

Earlier,   Sheikh Aftab fielded Suleman  for PP-15’s seat  in 2002 and 2008 elections, but he lost both the elections.

Despite his defeat in the two elections, his father wants to field him the same seat.

Mr Suleman is a religious person and not as smart as the sons of Tahir Sadik and Qazi Khalid.

Earlier, veteran politicians of Attock district Malik Aslam, Malik Hakmeen Khan and Malik Allahyar (late) had also brought their sons  into the politics.

Mr. Amin (now aspirant for PTI ticket for NA- 57) is the only son of Mr Aslam, head of “Malik” family of Shamsabad village, was elected  MNA from this seat in 2002.

Senior PPP leader and former senator Malik Hakmeen Khan had also thrown his son Malik Shahan Khan in 2008 election, which he won.

Ex-MPA Malik Itabar is the son of Malik Allahyar (late) of Kunda village. Mr Allahyar was a senior most legislator and last time elected MNA from NA- 58 Attock-II in 2002’s election.

Due to illness,  Mr Allahyar could not contest 2008’s elections but he fielded  his son Mr Itabar for PP-19 Attock-V in 2008’s election, which he won.
