ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Army has again assured the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of its support for holding fair and transparent elections in the country, DawnNews reported.

The Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Pervez Kayani met with the Chief Election Commissioner Justice (retired) Fakhruddin G Ebrahim and conveyed to him that the army supported the efforts being made by the ECP for the elections.

The COAS assured that the Army would assist the ECP in any way possible to ensure that elections are held in an environment that would meet the above mentioned criteria.

Secretaries of the election commission and defense ministry were also present during the meeting.
