KARACHI: Girl commits suicide

KARACHI, Jan 29: A young boy died in a traffic accident in Gulshan-i-Iqbal on Wednesday.

Ten-year-old Irtiza Husain was crossing the road near the Junior-6 Bus Stop when a speeding van (PH-4455) knocked him down. The boy was a resident of PECHS and class four student of a nearby private school. Police claimed to have arrested the driver, identified as Nasir, and impounded the vehicle.

BODIES FOUND: The body of a young boy was recovered from a storm-drain near a government school in Jacob Lines.

Mohammad Husain, aged 12, had been missing since Tuesday evening. The victim was a special child (deaf and dumb).

The body of a 36-year-old man, identified as Rafiq Anjum, was found from bushes in Korangi Sector F-6 on Wednesday. The deceased was a resident of Manghopir. Police said that the body had marks of torture and was shifted to the JPMC.

SUICIDE: A young girl died after consuming a poisonous substance in her home in Mahmoodabad late Tuesday night.

Huma Ilyas, aged 22, consumed the drug meant to kill stray dogs. She was shifted to a nearby hospital where she died.

ARRESTED: Police arrested two alleged robbers after an exchange of fire in Ferozabad.

Police said that two suspected bandits hijacked a motorcycle (KAV-670) from Faisal on Khalid Bin Waleed Road. Faisal raised an alarm and informed two policemen on patrol. They chased the suspects, who opened fire on the police. The police returned the fire in which one of the suspects was injured near Noorani Restaurant.
