KARACHI, April 1: The caretaker Sindh Chief Minister, retired Justice Zahid Kurban Alavi, on Monday allocated portfolios to his cabinet ministers and advisers after his first cabinet meeting at which a security plan for holding peaceful elections in the province was approved.

In the evening, the services, general administration and coordination department of the Sindh government notified portfolios given to the 16 ministers and three advisers, instead of two, to the chief minister.

According to the notification, Shakaib Qureshi has been given the portfolio of planning and development and excise and taxation, Nawab Qalb Hussain Lahori forest and wildlife, Mohammad Shareef Ansari environment and alternative energy, Sardar Khan Ghoto labour and transport, Mehmood Yousuf Mandviwalla law and prisons, Iqbal Dawood Pakwala food, Raees Ghulam Qasim Jaskani livestock and fisheries, Dr Junaid Ali Shah health, Sardar Mohammad Yaseen Malik religious affairs and Auqaf, Syed Shabbar Zaidi finance, S. Khalid Tawab industries and commerce, Dr N.K. Luhana agriculture, Anis Haroon human rights and women development, Khalid Latif social welfare and Zakat and Ushr, Noor ul Huda Shah information and archives and Abdul Qadeer Chohan public health engineering.

Besides, Mian Zahid Hussain will advise the chief minister on information technology, Haroon Farooki on sports and youth affairs and Zakria Godil on special education.
