ISLAMABAD, Jan 28: Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunications Sardar Awais Ahmad Khan Leghari has directed the Pakistan Telecommunication Company (PTCL) to place ‘content filters’ at all internet exchanges to block access to pornographic and blasphemous sites.

This step would drastically restrict the spread of obscene material through internet.

According to an official handout, the ministry of information technology and telecommunications has taken the step to block such undesirable contents at the junction points called internet exchanges, which are the routes for internet traffic into the country.
