A bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, resumed the hearing of the fake degree holders case.

During the hearing, the chief justice ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan to initiate action against all fake degree-holding parliamentarians and added that voters should have access to all the data pertaining to the candidates.

Secretary of Election Commission Ishtiaq Ahmed replied that the information of the candidates would be made available on the website.

The hearing over the case was adjourned until March 28th (Thursday)

Earlier, during the hearing over a petition filed by a senior member of the Pakistan People’s party Dr Mubashir Hasan seeking transparency of elections in the country, the chief justice said that he wanted the upcoming elections to be independent and transparent.

The bench adjourned the hearing over the case until tomorrow and instructed Dr Mubashir Hassan to remove typographical errors from his petition.
