KARACHI: Sardar Akhtar Mengal, the chief of the Balochistan National Party- Mengal (BNP-M) arrived in Karachi on Monday, DawnNews reported.

A large number of supporters were gathered outside Karachi airport to receive the Baloch nationalist leader after his return from Dubai.

Speaking to media representatives upon his arrival, Mengal said that the situation in Balochistan had not improved and that the Hazaras were being oppressed in the same manner as the oppression faced by the Baloch.

He added said the killers of Hazaras can be traced back to the killers of the Baloch people.

Mengal further said that his party believes in democracy and that undemocratic forces had always obstructed his democratic struggle.

He said that the party's further course of action would be announced at a party meeting on Tuesday.

The chief of thew BNP-M landed in Karachi amid pressures from Baloch separatists and radical nationalists calling on him to boycott the 2013 elections.

Mengal’s arrival comes six months after he appeared in front of the Supreme Court demanding the immediate cessation of the security establishment’s kill and dump policies.

His party’s central committee is planning to meet on Tuesday to finalise their position on elections and whether they will be taking part — though according to the party’s acting president, Jahanzaib Jamaldini, the decision is as good as final.
