LAHORE, March 21: A teenaged girl suffered burns in an acid attack, the second incident in the last four days, in Cavalry Ground on Thursday.

The victim was attacked by unidentified people three days after a woman identified as Naziran Bibi succumbed to her acid burns at a hospital on March 19. Naziran was attacked at the Miani Sahib graveyard allegedly by a resident of Yakki Gate.

Cantonment SP (Investigation) Fida Hussain told Dawn that 16-year-old girl Rida along with her fellow was going her aunt’s home in Street 6 in Cavalry Ground when two motorcyclists approached them and threw acid on Rida.

He said the victim, who suffered some burns at her left arm, was shifted to Services Hospital.

He said the police would start investigation in the light of witnesses’ account.

FIRE: A fire broke out in a house at Jiya Moosa in Shahdara on Thursday, burning down valuables worth thousands.

The Rescue 1122 personnel said the blaze was brought under control after some efforts.
