QUETTA: The Balochistan government and the opposition agreed on Thursday over the nomination Nawab Ghous Bakhsh Barozai as the caretaker chief minister of the province.

Chief Minister Nawab Raisani and Opposition leader Nawabzada Tariq Magsi held a long consultative meeting this morning to discuss the interim government setup in the province.

“We have decided to appoint Nawab Barozai as the caretaker CM of Balochistan", JUI (F)'s former health minister Ainullah Shams told Dawn.com. He said the name was proposed by the opposition leader Nawabzada Tariq Magsi and his allies.

The coalition partners in Nawab Raisani’s government, including Jamiat Ulema Islam – Fazl (JUI-F), Balochistan National Party Awami (BNP-A), Awami National Party (ANP), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Pakistan Muslim League – Quaid (PML-Q) and other independent candidates, reached on a consensus to propose Nawab Barozai as the caretaker CM of Balochistan.

Nawab Barozai belongs to the Sibi area of Balochistan. His father, Nawab Muhammad Khan Barozai, was the first speaker of Balochistan Assembly in 1970, as well as the chief minister of the province in 1970s.

Nawab Barozai was also a caretaker provincial minister in the previous caretaker government in Balochistan.
