QUETTA, March 18: A division bench of the Balochistan High Court observed on Monday that the provincial government was not interested in improving the public transport sector.

The bench comprising Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa and Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan was hearing petitions filed by Mohammad Alam and others.

The court said it appeared that the government had no interest in solving the problems of commuters, adding that authorities concerned were unaware of respective laws.

It expressed surprise over spending of a huge amount by the provincial government for purchasing of an aircraft for the chief minister and said the amount should have been invested in the public transport sector.

The additional advocate general assured the court that its orders would be implemented in letter and spirit. The hearing was adjourned till April 4.
