Man commits suicide

RAWALPINDI, Jan 26: A man committed suicide by setting himself on fire at Misryal, while a girl, critically injured in a road accident on Saturday, died at Pims on Sunday.

Amir Maqbool, in his 20s, who was mentally sick, doused himself with kerosene oil and set himself on fire outside his house on Misryal Road on Sunday night. On seeing him in flames, some passers-by rushed to his rescue, but their efforts proved futile and he died on the spot, police and hospital authorities said.

Meanwhile, Firdous Jabbar, aged 20 months, who was injured critically in a road accident at Karal Chowk, died on Sunday.

The minor girl was injured while her elder sister, Rukhsana, 7, died on the spot after being hit by a car. They were on their way to deliver meal to their father who is a vendor.

According to the Airport police, the parents of the girls did not lodge an FIR against the accused driver and forgave him.
