ISLAMABAD, April 29: Sixteen players reached the second round of the Subh-e-Nau Clay Court Tennis Championship at the Islamabad Club on Monday.

Second seeded Usman Ijaz looked in prime form against Faizan Khurram of Lahore and outplayed his opponent to qualify for the second round.

The match between Fahad Masood and Tahirullah was easily the contest of the day. After losing the first set 4-6, Fahad was three points down but came back strongly to stun Tahirullah to win the next two sets and the match.

Top seed Mohammad Abid, M. Rizwan, Usman Rafique, Farrukh, Arham Atique, Mohammad Mudassar, Ahmed Mahmood, Ikramullah, Ahmed Chaudhry, Imad Amir, Raja Shahid and Yousuf Ajam also reached the second round.
