KARACHI, April 24: For the first time in the history of women’s football in the country there will be an Under-16 Inter-club Girls Football championship, the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) announced on Wednesday.

“The PFF has planned to organise an Under-16 Inter Club Girls Football championship which will be held from June 17 to 25 this year,” said a PFF media release. The venue for the event, however, remains undecided.

“The PFF has taken the initiative to develop and promote girls football at youth level and this will give the chance for the emerging talent to display and further develop their football skills,” the release adds.“With the passage of time, girls’ football will be more popular and the PFF aims to streamline the emerging talent.”

The PFF has invited over 50 registered women football clubs around the country to take part in the event.
