KARACHI, March 7: Pakistan’s top under-14 tennis star Nofil Kaleem fought his way into the semi-finals of Qatar under-14 tennis championship at Doha’s Khalifa Tennis Centre imposing to 7-5, 6-3 victory over Qatar No 1 Bilal Mohammad on Wednesday.

According to information made available here, Nofil was in a commanding position enjoying 5-1 lead in the opener when he conceded four successive games to be tied 5-5all. However, he managed to win the set 7-5. He won the second set 6-3 in convincing fashion.

Earlier, Nofil, who is also Asia No 1 in under-14, fought tooth and nail to overcome Hong Kong’s Denken Huin 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (10-8) in three hours and 20 minutes to cruise into quarters.

Nofil is accompanied by his new coach Imran Shaukat.
